7 Tips to Increase Your Fruit & Vegetable Intake

Updated: Jul 21, 2019

So originally I wrote a looooong post trying to persuade you to eat your fruits and vegetables, but instead you should just scan these tips really quickly and get implementing. You know veggies are important, it's usually getting it done that's the issue…

Here are some tips you can implement today!

1 - Research shows that instead of the 5 servings you've been told you need, you actually need 7-13 servings a day to get your daily vitamins/minerals! Aim for 10. 10 is a solid number. Tips below will help you hit this number...

2 - Half your plate should be veggies at every meal you eat, this is going to be about 6-7 servings just from your meals.

3 - Add fruit to your snacks. If you're used to an afternoon snack or an evening treat, add a piece of fruit to up your intake.

4 - Take advantage of smoothies! Blending up veggies with a hint of fruit is a great way to increase your intake if you're struggling. I love a breakfast smoothie, you can get 10 of my favourite smoothie recipes here.

5 - Choose fruits and vegetables with deeper, richer colours for a higher concentration of nutrients.

6 - Always eat the skin - if it's edible, you know what I mean.

7 - Count colours not calories. Try to have every colour throughout the day, oranges, reds, purples, whites and of course greens!
